Wouldn’t you know it, we’re almost half way through the year. After a superb wave of recent openings in Houston โ ranging from elevated pickleball facilities to supercharged racing lounges โ there’s still plenty to look forward to later this year. 1. Tower Theatre Jazz Club and Restaurant

The historical Tower Theatre, most recently home to ACME Oyster House, will get a new tenant this coming year. As early as summer of this year, the venue will house San Antonio-based club, Jazz, TX.
The original location has long been a live music destination that’s featured the likes of Benny Benack, Kevin Eubanks, and the Kenny Garrett Quintet. The Houston location will also house a bar and restaurant that serves South Texas cuisine.

2. Succulent Fine Dining
From Shawn Virene, owner of the Houston brunch hotspot, AโBouzy, Succulent Fine Dining is a Napa-inspired concept in the Regent Square mixed-use district. Housed in the space formerly occupied by Pastore, Succulent Fine Dining aims to be an approachable fine dining destination in Houston with a menu sourcing its ingredients locally or the West Coast.
Wine-wise, the venue will feature a list heavy with Californian vintages. Virene also plans to spruce up the top floor with verdant touches including trees, pergolas, and private greenhouses.

3. Botonica
Botonica is a coming concept from Alexis Mijares, owner behind the firm that hosted the popular seasonal Jingle Bell Bar and Cursed Cauldron pop-ups. Set inside the former Aero Cocktail Co., Botonica will be a Latin spirits-driven concept with curated wine and cocktails based on tequila and mezcal as well as Pisco, charade, and cachaca. Botonica has tapped Andre Garza and JaredPoorto create a curated menu of pan-Latin eats.

4. Buttermilk Baby Sugar Land

As seen on our list of Houston openings in 2024, Buttermilk Baby is a throwback soda fountain concept from Berg Hospitality. In the third quarter of 2025, the group plans to open a second location in Sugar Land where patrons can enjoy milkshakes, sweet treats from Carvel, and classic comfort foods in a colorful vintage environment.

5. Round1
Following the opening of its arcade-only concept in Deerbrook Mall, Round1 is gearing up to open a fully-fledged entertainment facility in Willowbrook Mall by the end of this year. Located in the space formerly occupied by Sears, the Round1 in Willowbrook Mall will feature a Japanese-inspired bowling alley, as well top-quality billiards, karaoke, arcade, crane machines, and more.

6. Yiayia’s Greek Kitchen
Yiayiaโs Greek Kitchen is coming back to life this summer. The Pappas group plans to reimagine the original Yiayia Maryโs with a new name and modern take. Rest assured, Houstonians will be able to enjoy an array of Greek cuisine including grilled lamb, spanakopita, and delicious dips.

7. Latuli
From Chef Bryan Caswell comes Latuli. Slated to open early in Hedwig Village in 2025, Latuli will be an elevated Gulf Coast venture that offers a Texas twist. Latuli’s menu promises to be sophisticated and accessible, that which patrons can enjoy in its Spanish ranch-style interior imbued with laid-back allure of California’s coastal vibe.

8. Lumos

Coming to New Caney just outside of Houston spring of 2025, Lumos is a high-tech, family-friendly entertainment venue created by a former Shell executive. Lumos will be housed in a 45,000-square-foot facility where it will offer laser tag, bowling, karaoke, virtual reality experiences, and 6,000-square-foot arcade. The venue will also feature a a restaurant and sports bar.

9. Jaggers
From famed franchise, Texas Roadhouseโs Kent Taylor, is Jaggers โ a fast-casual burger concept. As described by Taylor, Jaggers is the lovechild of Chick-Fil-A and Five Guys. This summer, the company plans to open at near 4,000-square-foot outpost and drive-thru at Grand Morton Town Center in Katy.

10. Kirkwood
Slated to open this fall, Kirkwood is a concept from the Mac Haik Restaurant Group. Coming to the Energy Tower II in the cityโs Energy Corridor, Kirkwood is a fine dining restaurant with a menu of elevated American dishes headed by Executive Chef Stephen Chiang of Petroleum Club and Relish. The venue is designedly Gin Design Group, the renowned group behind other Houston concepts that include Haii Keii, Potente, and Aperitivo.
