Springtime is here Houston! It’s the time of year to go for hikes, picnic in the park, and strolls through the city’s wonderful gardens. It’s also the time to fly kites. This weekend in Houston, the Hermann Park Conservancy is slated to host their annual Kite Festival.
Hermann Park is one of Houston’s most beloved green spaces. Spanning 445 acres, the enchanting park provides an urban oasis for Houstonians and is home to the McGovern Centennial Gardens, J.M. Stroud Rose Garden, and the Woodland Garden.
Throughout the year, officials regularly host a wonderful programs of events – ranging from live concerts, artistic exhibitions, yoga, as well as family-friendly events. This April, the park will host their annual kite festival.

On Sunday, April 7, Houstonians are invited to bring their diamond, foil, bow, and/or whatever kind of kite you can rustle up to fly at the Miller Hill and Jones Reflection Pond between 10 am and 3 pm.
The free event is set to feature live entertainment, a DJ, games, activities, face painting, and more.
“Thank you to @lifeatkirkland for supporting our annual Kite Festival for the third year in a row!” The group wrote in an Instagram post. “It is through the support of our sponsors, community partners and individual supporters that we are able to host this free, public event that brings families and the greater Houston community together to enjoy a very special day in Hermann Park. #HPCKiteFest.”

The Hermann Park Conservancy is currently undergoing a massive expansion. On April 13, the park plans to debut The Commons, a new 26-acre space set to feature a community gathering area, play zones, natural spaces, as well as play zones and gardens.
