
Among the many openings in Houston this year, including a massive entertainment center, Japanese-inspired bowling alley, and more, are a number of exciting new restaurants.
1. Solarium
Coming early 2025, Solarium is an experiential-driven, one-acre venue from a partnership between from Rex Hospitality and The Kirby Group. Here, the two are transforming the former Holman Draft Hall site into a sprawling, one-acre restaurant, lounge, and 100-tap bar.
Furthermore, Solarium will feature an array of premium amenities, including four pickleball courts, two padel courts, and five exclusive court bays with personalized waiter service.

2. Camaraderie
Camaraderie marks the first solo endeavor of Shawn Gawle. Having worked at numerous Michelin-Starred restaurants across the US, including as the pastry chef of the three Michelin-Starred L20 seafood restaurant in Chicago, Gawle is focusing is sights on a “fine-casual neighborhood restaurant” in The Heights.
Not much else is known in regards to his restaurant’s cuisine save that it will involve an equal distribution of tips and wages between servers and cooks and will feature an open kitchen and covered patio.

3. Augustine’s

From Chef Dominick Lee, Augustine’s is an innovative Creole dining experience set to debut in early 2025. The restaurant will be housed within Hotel King David, a Black-owned boutique hotel in Riverside Terrace.

4. Tower Theatre Jazz Club and Restaurant
The historical Tower Theatre โ former home of the ACME Oyster House โ will soon house a new jazz and super club. The now unnamed concept is an expansion of the San Antonio-based Jazz, TX venue from Doc Watkins. Here, the venue will stage a variety of live jazz performances with an ambiance that emulates ’30s-era supper clubs.

5. Latuli
Latuli is a refined Gulf Coast dining destination from Chef Bryan Caswell coming to Hedwig Village in early 2025. Latuli will blend sophistication with approachability and Texas flair, offering a thoughtfully curated menu in a Spanish ranch-style setting.

6. Haii Kei
Originally planned to open in summer 2024, Haii Kei is an Asian-inspired restaurant from chef Jeff Auld and Jarred Tosto. Coming to River Oaks/Upper Kirby in mid February, Haii Kei’s menu will comprise of dishes from across the continent of Asia including Peking duck, sashimi, Japanese milk bread, and maki.

7. Osteria di Mercata

The Mercato and Company cafe, market, and bottle shop is expanding this 2025 with the opening of Osteria di Mercata. The company tapped chef Tatiana Perna to develop the intimate Italian restaurant and wine bar’s menu, featuring authentic Italian dishes with high quality ingredients.

8. Happy Go Lucky
Happy Go Lucky is a vibrant new Hawaiian shaved ice and frozen cocktail spot from Shawn Bermudez and Matthew Pak. Coming soon to Houston soon, the drive-thru/walk-up will be located in the company of Burger Joint and The Taco Stand in The Heights.

9. Doko

Coming this year, Doko is the sister restaurant concept to the recently opened Bar Doko Japanese whiskey bar in Autry Park. From Uchi alums Chef Dani Lee and Chef Patrick Pham, Doko will be a Japanese sushi restaurant fit with a 50-seat main dining room and 12-seat cocktail bar. The venue plans to offer nigiri sourced from Japan’s Toyosu Market.

10. Bojangles
The funnest name in fried chicken is finally opening shop in Houston. This February, Houstonians will be able to sink their teeth into the iconic cajun-spiced fried chicken, Bojangles scratch-made biscuits, and dirty rice.
