As the weather gets cooler, so do things start heating up at Discovery Green. The organization, famed for their outdoor ice rink, vibrant cultural installations, and seasonal light displays, has announced the first holiday screening at their downtown Screen on the Green.
Visitors can bundle up in their blankets and plop down on the park lawn for a screening of the animated holiday classic, The Year Without a Santa Clause, at 7 pm on Saturday, November 13.
As of this moment, this is the only screening that Discovery has announced for the season. For other memorable experiences, however, Discovery Green will unveil their illuminative new light display, Mosaic of Light, on November 12:
“During the day the sculptures are gold jewels, which glisten in the sunlight. At dusk and beyond, the glowing structures create light, and dancing shadows give them an expansive presence that interacts with visitors and the surrounding environment.”
Also on Friday, the organization will open their seasonal ice skating rink with a winter Frostival that will feature a chainsaw ice-carving demonstration from artist, Reverend Butter.
For other movie-going experiences, cinephiles can check out the holiday program of Houston’s premier rooftop cinema, Rooftop Cinema Club in Uptown. Planned screenings for November include The Nightmare Before Christmas, COCO, Elf, Coming to America, Home Alone, The Grinch, and more!
