Hype continues to mount for the near future opening of Meow Wolf in Houston. To add to the excitement, Meow Wolf has announced its plan to introduce a collaborative anchor space, dive bar, and restaurant at its coming Houston portal.
There are immersive experiences, and then there are IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES. Meow Wolf is an experimental large-scale art venue that provides out-of-this-world installations in a truly one-of-a-kind weird wonderland.
Slated to open later this year, Meow Wolf has continued to roll out details about its coming Houston location – or as Meow Wolf calls it – “portal”. Following the announcement of its roster of over 40 local Houston artists, Meow Wolf has announced a hidden dive bar inside its Houston portal called Cowboix Hevven.
Cowboix Hevven will be a fully functioning bar and restaurant. Hidden inside the Houston Meow Wolf portal, will blend the collective’s signature interdimensional whimsy with the charm of a honky tonk. Furthermore, the dive bar will feature an artistic sculpture and tribute to late Meow Wolf founder, Matt King.
Other oddities will also grace the space, including the likes of a disco ball-headed pool shark, weeping creature of grief, and something Meow Wolf calls “an octogenarian armadillo spinning yarns of the bar’s numerous patrons.”
“Cowboix Hevvven is a love letter from a Texan dreamer,” said Lead Artist and Creative Director Cole Bee Wilson. “It’s a psychedelic space that puts the ‘all’ in y’all and serves as a self-referential, autobiographical take on my Texan imagination. There’s a seat at the bar for all y’all here in Cowboix Hevvven.”
The cosmic country bar will also feature an interactive jukebox aimed to take listeners on an auditory journey through a tapestry of futuristic soundscapes and traditional country melodies.
As stated, the Meow Wolf dive bar in Houston will be a fully functioning bar and restaurant. While the menu has yet to be fully revealed the collective states that its’ intent is to compliment the immersive experience with an innovative take on traditional dive bar fare.
Meow Wolf has yet to reveal its coming Houston theme, or official opening date, though plans to roll out more details as its opening draws near. Stay tuned for more details!
