It’s official: Michelin is expanding into Texas. Announced earlier this July, Michelin stated its plans to publish its first Texas Michelin Guide before the year’s end.
In eager anticipation, we asked you, our dear readers, which Houston restaurants should make the Texas Michelin Guide. Among all the comments were standout mentions of these restaurants that were either highly liked and/or repeatedly named in the comments section.
We do have to mention that one of the highly liked comments in response to our question was Chili’s on the Katy Freeway. While Chili’s has always done right by us, we’re going to focus this article on the truly probable Michelin-star restaurants Houston. Without further ado, here are the Houston restaurants that ought to feature on the Texas Michelin Guide as according to Houstonians:
1. Rainbow Lodge
Nestled along the banks of the White Oak Bayou, Rainbow Lodge is a rustically romantic restaurant housed inside a historic log cabin. Immersed in a lodge atmosphere, Rainbow Lodge specializes in seafood and wild game with such options as antelope, elk, and bison. Filet of beef, jumbo lump crab, and gulf shrimp are also favorites at the Rainbow Lodge.

Located in Downtown, Houston a stone’s throw from Minute Maid Park is Potente, an award-winning contemporary Italian restaurant. Owned by Jim Crane, owner of the Astros, the romantic Houston restaurant is known for its USDA steaks, rotating seafood dishes, and homemade pastas – regarding the latter, the Food Network highlighted its truffle pasta as “One of the Best Pastas in the Country“.

5. JŪN
From revered chefs, Top Chef star, Chef Evelyn Garcia and Chef Henry Lu, JŪN by Kin features an artistically-crafted a fusion of modern and traditional Asian American cuisine. Experience the Madrileño lifestyle in all its flourish at MAD. The upscale dining establishment is reminiscent of a Spanish discoteca, fitted with a vortex of lights, mirrors, and lavish features.
