If you’re into pickleball, Houston is your place. From the elevated, pickleball-meets-country-club Solarium facility, to the sprawling Chicken N’ Pickle ‘eatertainment’ venue in Webster, and everywhere in between: there are plenty of local places to play the fastest growing sports in the U.S. Newest to the scene is Drop Shots HTX, a combined sports bar, restaurant, and pickleball complex.
Drop Shots HTX is a project from Roveen Abante, Shawn Outlaw, and Chase Lovullo – all hospitality veterans with a combined restaurant and bar experience of over 65 years.
Following a soft opening, Drop Shots HTX is hosting its grand opening in Houston this Saturday, June 21. Located at 2520 Airline Dr. BLD A Suite 100, Drop Shots HTX serves itself as a “Topgolf energy meets indoor pickleball“.
The massive facility features six air-conditioned, pro-grade courts, a sprawling indoor/outdoor bar, Clutch City Kitchen with Farmers Market fare, and a second-floor lounge populated with lounge seating, arcade games, as well as plentitude of TVs on its sports wall – including a mega, 195-inch TV.
The venue also features an exciting array of board, yard, and game games including ping-pong, skee-ball, and classic board games.
“Some venues lean into serious competition, we lean into fun,” said co-founder Shawn Outlaw in a press release.
“We’re the only indoor pickleball facility inside the Loop with a full bar, kitchen, lounge, and patio. But more than that, we’re the only one that feels like your new favorite neighborhood hangout, even if you never touch a paddle.”
The venue plans to host a myriad of events at its facility including Glow-in-the-Dark Fridays, Pancakes & Pickleball mornings, and Tacos & Tequila Saturdays.
Drop Shots HTX hosts its grand opening this Saturday, June 21, from noon to close. Here, patrons can enjoy open play all day for $5, $5 drink and food specials, as well as live DJ sets and giveaways.
Drop Shots HTX is located at 2520 Airline Dr. BLD A Suite 100.
