Quench your inner sommelier with these mammalia.
I thought I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting myself into when I started this job. I would write about food, bars, and music. Maybe a quirky cafe here and there. What I didn’t expect was the MULTIPLE exotic-animal drinking excursions available in and around Houston. But hey, I’m not dogging it. If there’s a ranch where you can drink wine with llamas, why not? It’s Texas — embrace it. [Featured image: @kellycasa]
At the Bluebonnet Hills Alpaca Ranch hosted by Peach Creek Vineyards in College Station, you’ll find the weirdest looking drinking buddies in the state.
At Peach Creek Vineyards, you can imbibe from their eloquent selection of reds, whites, roses, and specialty wines. Savour the deep, lush flavours of their full-bodied Regal Red. Alight your palette with their chilled, aromatic Oasis White. Feel the bristling, cottony — at times coarse — texture of their Huacaya Alpaca.
Visitors can sip on the nectar of the gods while petting, cuddling, and snapping pics with some of the Andes’ favorite animals. Meanwhile, learn both about the animals as well as the wine-making process.
Their next events are slated for later this year. While tickets for these events happen to be sold out, the vineyard does have plans to release more dates soon. Ticket prices range from $1-$20. They sell out quickly so keep your ear to the ground, or in the air, about upcoming events.
Peach Creek Vineyards is open from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday from noon – 5:00 p.m., and Sunday by appointment. It’s located at 2029 Peach Creek Road, College Station.
