While Houston is home to all sorts of sports bars, we haven’t seen many like this. Opening this weekend, Uptown Sporting Club offers a sophisticated take on the traditional sports bar experience – featuring elevated cocktails and fare, membership-only opportunities, and refined digs.
Uptown Sporting Club is a concept from hospitality vets, Roveen Abante (BurgerChan, Dropshots, Galleria Conservatory, Dropshots) and Daniel Chang (Uptown Sushi, Sushi Rebel). On July 4th, Uptown Sporting Club opens its 4,000-square-foot space, and 1,000-square-foot patio at 1131 Uptown Park Blvd.
Following major games, Uptown Sporting Club will host live DJs.

Patrons here can watch major sporting events on eight large televisions and a 115-inch LED screen while sitting under whiskey barrel-inspired ceilings.
The venue aims to become a destination for game-day viewing. The venue plans to screen major athletic events throughout the year on its numerous TVs – including a 115-inch LED screen. Following the World Cup games, the venue will broadcast local games, including Texans Sundays, Astros playoff runs, and Rockets matchups.
“We didn’t set out to build another sports bar,” said co-owner Roveen Abante in a press release. “We created a sporting cocktail lounge that transforms into nightlife – a place where people can come together to watch a big game, enjoy great food and cocktails, and stay long after the final whistle. It’s an experience built around community, hospitality, and memorable moments.”
The kitchen will serve elevated comfort food, including Double Wagyu Smashburgers, Korean Fried Chicken, and Fresh-Cut Truffle Fries. The bar will mix signature cocktails like the Caprese Martini and Texas Pecan, alongside an extensive list of premium spirits and zero-proof drinks.

The venue will also debut 134 illuminated bottle lockers. Following a vetting process, members will be entitled to priority seating, expedited entry, and preferred bottle pricing.
Uptown Sporting Club opens at 1131 Uptown Park Blvd., Suite 1 on Saturday, July 4. Once open, the club will run Monday through Thursday from 4 pm to 1 am, Friday and Saturday from 4 pm to 2 am, and Sunday from 4 pm to midnight.
