This past week, the Toyota Center and Clutch City Sports & Entertainment announced a $180 million renovation of the iconic downtown Houston sports venue.
Dubbed “Toyota Center Reimagined”, the renovation will see a modernization of the venue as well as the creation of “dynamic new gathering spaces” that include a 20,000-square-foot glass atrium along with other major upgrades.
“This improvement to the Toyota Center reflects Houston’s commitment to meeting today’s needs while preparing for the future,” said Houston Mayor John Whitmire in a press release.

“It ensures we can continue to cheer on the Rockets and Comets and support a strong convention business for years to come. I thank the Harris County–Houston Sports Authority for its leadership and partnership with my administration, as well as county and state officials.”
Harris County Houston Sports Authority officially approved the Toyota Center Reimagined project this past Wednesday. With construction slated to begin after the Houston Rockets season, the development will see the creation of new venue spaces. The centerpiece of the renovation is a new 20,000-square-foot atrium.
The atrium at the corner of Polk and La Branch will feature a stunning glass facade, acting as a striking entryway to the Toyota Center. In addition to offering over 3,000 square feet of covered outdoor space, the atrium will house a Season Ticket Members Lounge in an open design.

For all fans, the development project will see a reconfiguration of the Bell Street south entry. Upon entry, fans will be able to have a direct view of the arena bowl – enhancing the experience of their arrival. Toward this end, the development will also overhaul the Skybridge entrance.
Notably, Toyota Center Reimagined will see a brand new Sky Bar in the upper concourse offering sweeping views of the downtown Houston skyline. Adjacent to Sky Bar will be a new culinary destination inside the stadium, called HOU Market. Together the space will span 5,000 square feet.
Other new spaces planned for the development include the Summit Club, a 6,000-square-foot suite level space.

Toyota Center Reimagined will also see the creation of a new team store for the Rockets and Comets that “will more than double the current retail footprint”.
Upgrades planned for Toyota Center Reimagined include renovated suites, updated interiors, and improved sightlines. Infrastructure improvements planned related to upgraded vertical transportation systems, enhance broadcast capabilities, higher-capacity Wi-Fi network, and upgraded data systems.
If all goes as planned, the Toyota Center Reimagined will be completed in fall 2027.
