What’s more Halloween than a haunted house? There’s haunted houses for children, what with styrofoam spiders, tombstone cutouts, and plastic vampire fangs, then there’s haunted houses for adults – with Carpenter-level horror, nightmarish creatures, and god knows what else.
For the freaks and ghouls out there, one of the “top 5 most terrifying haunted houses in the U.S.A.” is located right here in Houston: enter 13th Floor.
Now open on select dates until October’s end, 13th Floor is an essential Halloween season experience in Houston. This season, the haunted house features three thrilling attractions for daring visitors: Chop House, Legends of the Deep, and All Hallow’s Eve.
Their eerie Chop House exhibition involves a lost psychopath inside a dilapidated meat processing plant. Wearing an old mascot uniform, the madman picks up a chainsaw as he hunts for his next victims.
Legends of the Deep is a sea-based experience in which visitors lurk among a capsized ship teeming with infected crew members seeking to claim more souls.
All Hallow’s Eve follows a group of trick-or-treaters searching for candy – as well as blood and cuts. Also they’re zombies. Head on a swivel!
In addition to their frightening exhibits, 13th Floor also features a mini escape room wherein groups are prompted to uncover clues and solve riddles before time runs out. Additionally, visitors can try their hand at axe-throwing – to be clear, axes are thrown into wooden targets not zombies.
Either to calm your nerves before the exhibit, or settle them afterwards, 13th Floor also features an on-site bar, Bar 13. Here, visitors can imbibe from a selection of themed libations and/or purchase concessions.
13th Floor is open on select nights this October, for a clear picture on their schedule, visit their website here. The haunted house is located at 7075 Farm to Market 1960 Road West Ste 20.
