April Fool’s Day is around the corner, Houston, but it’s no joke that the same week beloved Montrose gastropub, Rudyard’s, will host The Riot Comedy Festival at the bar’s local comedy attic. Running from April 3rd to April 6th this week in Houston, The Riot Comedy Festival will feature killers comics, hot up-and-comers, podcasts tapings, and a four-day block party.
Housed inside Rudyard’s upstairs bar, The Riot is one of Houston’s top comedy clubs. The Riot hosts stand-up shows nightly with a program of open-mics, comedy showcases, themed shows, roasts, and more. This April, the comedy club is set to host the third annual Riot Comedy Festival.
Tickets are now on sale to the comedy festival, set to feature over 40 shows across 3 stages from April 4th to April 7th. Here, the club is set to stage performances from headlining comedians like Sam Tallent (Comedy Central, JRE, Kill Tony), Chris Redd (SNL, Netflix), and Chad & JT (Netflix, Going Deep with Chad & JT). Other featured comedians include Wolves of Glendale, Alec Flynn, Hans Kim, Katherine Blanford, and more.
The festival will also feature live tapings of comedy podcasts including the Meat Dave Podcast at Edmunson Gallery on Sunday, April 6.
Astute comedy fans can also put their judgmental caps on for the festival’s National Comedy Contest taking place each day of the festival, culminating in the final round on Sunday.
Each year the festival puts on a The Block party, a four-day fiesta along the stretch of Waugh Drive that features award-winning food, games, street performers, vendors, cold drinks and cocktails, as well as a monolithic 30-foot inflatable, mic-wielding, Texas-flag-carrying astronaut. The party is free to attend for ticket holders.
Tickets are now on sale to the comedy festival, individual show passes start at $10. Day passes are on sale from $49 – $105. Full weekend passes are priced at $119, $159 for VIP tickets. For more information on The Riot Comedy Festival in Houston, visit their website here.
