It was just this past January that local favorite Buff Brew (AKA Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co.) in Sawyer Yards shuttered. Known for its creative craft beers and unparalleled rooftop views, the closure of the Houston brewery came as a bit of a shock to the Houston sud scene. But as the expression goes: “out with the old, in with the new”.
Recently, Tejas Brewery & Taproom has taken over the coveted spot, Tejas Brewery is hosting their grand opening this weekend in Houston, September 12 – 14, with giveaways, live music, exciting activities, animal adoptions, and plenty of craft beer.
Housed in a three-story facility at 2101 Summer St. Tejas Brewery takes a Texas-grown, cross-cultural approach to its brews. Presently, Tejas has four signature beers: the Tejas Negra, Tejas Clara, Tejas IPA, and Tejas Hefeweizen.
The brewery and taproom also offers a proper whiskey, vodka, and gin cocktail selection. Options here include staples like Manhattans, Espresso Martinis, and French 75s, as well as Houston-spun cocktails like the H-Town Mule, Space City Margarita, and Southside.
Tejaw Brewery also offers wine, mimosas, and whiskey flights.
As for eats, Tejas Brewery serves a variety of Tex-Mex-influenced gastropub cuisine in the form of apps, salads, pizza, Tex-Mex platters, burgers, sandwiches, taco, sides, and desserts.
Tejas Brewery has until now been in a soft opening phase. This weekend, September 12 – 14, the brewery will be hosting its official grand opening. The grand opening ceremony will be inaugurated with giveaways, live music by Wild Tunes, as well as an animal adoption clinic co-sponsored by the Houston Humane Society on September 14 from 3 to 6 pm.
Tejas Brewery is now open at 2101 Summer St. in Sawyer Yards. The brewery is open from 11 am to 10 pm Sunday through Thursday and from 11 am to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
The venue is dog friendly – on the first floor – and kid friendly.
