From Shawn Virene, the owner of Montrose’s champagne-bubbling brunch hotspot, A’Bouzy, comes Succulent. Opening today, May 19, Succulent is a locally-sourced, wine swirling new fine dining restaurant with vineyard vibes at Regent Square mixed-use development.
Succulent is housed in the space formerly occupied by Pastore in then 24-acre Regent Square development. Situated along Allen Parkway between River Oaks and downtown, the development features various notable concepts that include Flight Club and Georgia James steakhouse.
Located in this company, Succulent has spruced up with space with rooftop seating, verdant accents, private green houses, a chef’s table, and other vineyard touches.
“My dream is to create a space where fine dining feels approachable and engaging, bringing the essence of vineyard dining to Houston,” said Virene.
The restaurant’s executive chef is David Buckley. A native of California, Buckley served at The Western at The Woodlands and The Woodlands Resort.
Succulent’s menu will feature a variety of farm-fresh produce, seasonally-inspired dishes for breakfast/brunch, lunch, and dinner. Part of its ingredients, the restaurant sources from Virene’s family-owned farm in Round Top as well as those cultivate on-site.
“The menu will highlight the best local and West Coast ingredients while embracing the tranquility of nature. This vision is deeply personal to me — gardening and fishing are hobbies that inspire me and allow me to escape from the day-to-day. That’s how I recharge, and Succulent will allow me to share that with my guests.”
Succulent features a curated list of beverages and wines. As for the latter, most are Californian vintages. Signature cocktails, dessert cocktails, beer, cocktails, teas, and craft sodas are also available. The restaurant also features a C.Y.O.M. (craft your own martini) option.
Succulent is now open at 1180 Dunlavy Street. The restaurant is open from 11 am – 3 pm for lunch Monday through Friday; from 5 pm – 10 pm Sunday through Thursday and from 5 pm – 11 pm Friday and Saturday. Brunch and breakfast is available between 9 am – 3pm Saturday and Sunday.
