It’s been 20 years since Houstonians had their last taste of Mi Luna Tapas Restaurant & Bar. The beloved Spanish restaurant, formerly located in Rice Village, was a hotspot for authentic tapas in an upbeat ambiance from 1998 to 2004. This fall, the restaurant will experience a renaissance in Houston with its reopening at Montrose Collective.
“I decided to resurrect Mi Luna after realizing that the Spanish tapas concept is not authentically represented in Houston,” said Youssef Nafaa, CEO of Bella Restaurants Group.
“I missed Mi Luna and the environment it presented. My feelings for Mi Luna never died, and I had dreamed of bringing it back to life. An opportunity presented itself in the perfect location to bring it to the Houston restaurant scene again.”
The new-and-improved Mi Luna will be housed in a 3,800-square-foot space in the Montrose Collective. The 140-seat restaurant, architecturally designed in Spanish likeness, will feature a 1,200-square-foot terrace, raised performance stage, as well as other cultural elements.
In addition to incorporated elements that made the tapas restaurant a hotspot in Houston back then, the family-owned restaurant will also feature a festive program.
Planned entertainment at Mi Luna include late-night specials, live music, and flamenco dancing performed by touring company, Solero Flamenco, on Fridays and Saturdays. Mi Luna will also feature live acoustic guitar performances during weekend brunch.
As for its menu, Mi Luna’s menu will focus heavy on seafood dishes, as well as braised and roasted meats, and an expansive list of tapas. In addition to vegetarian options and signature dishes from its previous iteration, Mi Luna’s menu will feature highlights ranging from Roasted Moorish Lamb Shoulder, Pescaditos Fritos, Braised Oxtail, and Roasted Whole Branzino.
Mi Luna will also feature a full bar, including signature cocktails, sangria pitchers, as well as an extensive wine list.
Mi Luna Tapas Restaurant & Bar is expected to reopen this fall under original ownership at the Montrose Collective.
