An Outdoor Roller Rink Is Now Open At The Foot Of The Houston Skyline

Get your skate on this spring break!

Discovery Green in Downtown, Houston has announced the return of their outdoor rink this spring. From now, until April 11, the organization is hosting public skates in Downtown Houston with tickets now on sale!

Now, with new indoor and outdoor opportunities to skate, it feels like more and more rollerbladers are coming out of the woodwork. Is 90’s culture finally ready for its second act?

I hope to see all my four-wheeled fellows at The Rink at Discovery Green. The skating season is wheeling into early April.

“Get outside and make a special memory with your family this spring,” the organization writes on their website. “Glide beneath the glittering lights of downtown in the center of the beautiful 12-acre park at Discovery Green.”

The rink will be hosting daily skates with a different theme for every night of the week. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the rink will be MC’d by DJ Mohawk Steve, playing throwback hits from decades past.

On Fridays, expect a stellar light show during your skate as a part of their FUNonmenal Friday with music by DJ Boris.

Monday is Cheap Skate Night — get it? Entry is $8 with free skate rentals. Otherwise, prices are $8 per person with $4 skate rental.

The rink at Discovery Green is also the perfect outing for families, field trips, birthdays, company parties, and benevolent cult gatherings. For group plans, the rink does require advanced reservations. To do so, email: discovergreen@icerinkevents.com or call 713-434-RINK.

With current circumstances being as they are, the rink is taking extra precautions to make things safe for skaters. New regulations include required masks, limited capacity, and mandatory pre-purchase of tickets. Check their website for full details.

Be a part of the wave of revolution that brings rollerskating rightfully back into the forefront of our culture!
