Head down to 8th Wonder Brewery this weekend for the amazing Otaku Food Festival!
Following in the footsteps of the Asian Night Market, Otaku Food Fest made its debut in Houston last summer. Organized by TanukiGo, a longstanding Japanese street food vendor and food festival feature, Otaku Food Festival returns this weekend with a special Lunar New Year’s Celebration at 8th Wonder Brewery!
The food market first took place on July 31 and August 1 of last year at the Vietnamese Community Center. In addition to an array of Asian street vendors, the festival featured a cosplay contest, parade, and Itasha car show. This time around, Otaku is going ever bigger with a spectacular Lunar New Year-themed festival.
Beginning Saturday, January 29, the Otaku Food Festival will feature lion dances, martial arts demonstrations, sumo wrestling, noodle artistry, and an anime village with multiple anime vendors, and more!
Visitors can also treat themselves to diabolo performances – mind-blowing Chinese yo-yo tricks – as well as Korean rap performances on Saturday!
Entry to the food festival is free and requires no prior RSVP. Most vendors accept credit card, but visitors ought to carry cash just in case. Otaku Food Festival starts at noon on January 29th going until 10 pm, and runs from noon to 8 pm on the 30th. This weekend’s festival might go down as the best one yet, you don’t want to miss it!
Otaku Food Festival is just one of many Lunar New Year celebrations taking place around Houston this time of year.
