Has the end of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo left you feeling blue this Monday? Don’t put your cowboy hats and boots away just yet, Houston, for another area rodeo is bucking into town. This April, the Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo will return to the Houston area with 10 days of concerts, rodeo events, livestock shows, a carnival midway, and more!
If the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is, as the New York Times has put it, “The Super Bowl Of Country Culture”, the Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo is more akin to Friday Nights Lights. Less commercial, sure, with admittedly less production value – but an action-packed rodeo just the same imbued with a true small-town Texas spirit that offers a heap of excitement for the whole family.
History of Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo
With roots as far back as 1954, the Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo began as a humble way for area farmers and ranchers to showcase Montgomery County’s agriculture industry. Over the years, the tradition grew and grew – outgrowing its modest homes until finding space at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in 1968.
Today, the Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo is hosted at the fairgrounds welcoming over 80,000 attendants each year, having broken records in 2022 and 2023.
