We’re just now getting into spring, but the summer heat isn’t far away. Just in time for warmer weather, world-renowned pastry chef, Jordi Roca has opened Rocambolesc Gelateria in Uptown.
Houston’s culinary world continues to develop by the day. With a roster full of fantastic gelato and ice cream parlors in town already, a Michelin-starred Spanish pastry chef has opened his first US location in Uptown.
Jordi Roca is the pastry chef at El Cellcr de Can Roca – a three-star Michelin restaurant in Girona, Spain he operates with his two brothers. In 2015, Restaurant Magazine named El Celler the best restaurant in the world while naming Roca, himself, the “World’s Best Pastry Chef”.
Rocambolesc is a project between Roca and wife, Alejandra Rivas. The idea was born from the want to make Roca’s iconic pastries more accessible to the public. Since its first iteration manifesting as a push cart rolling through the streets of Girona, Rocambolesc has since developed into a string of brick-and-mortar gelaterias.
The gelateria serves a sweet assortment of gelato, chocolate bars, truffles, and bambolescas. Its gelato is available in a variety of flavors ranging including Vanilla, Chocolate, Oven-Baked Apple, Strawberry and Coconut and Violet Sorbet. With these flavors, patrons can combine with a number of toppings that include hand-cut butter sablé, chocolate cake, violet cloud, and Pop Rocks.
In addition to the different flavors, the popsicles come in a variety of shapes crafted in a 3D mold with unique options including a iPhone-shaped Yogurt Licorice and Lime popsicle and a nose-shaped Strawberry and Rose Water popsicle.
Rocambolesc has also partnered with The Center for Pursuit in Houston to train and host people with IDD.
The gelateria is now open at 1101-10 Uptown Park Blvd.
