Since announcement that the esteemed Michelin Guide would be expanding into Texas, those of us in Houston have been on pins and needles in anticipation of which restaurants would be included on the first guide. After bestowing its first series of awards in Houston, bestowing Michelin keys to three Houston hotels, Michelin has announced its release date of its first Michelin Guide Texas.
According to CultureMap Houston, Michelin host a special, invite-only ceremony in Houston on November 11. Here, the company will announce the restaurants on the inaugural Michelin Guide of Texas, which includes Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Austin.
The company held a similar ceremony in September where it awarded Texas hotels with Michelin Keys – including three Houston hotels.
“We are delighted to be hosting the inaugural Michelin Guide Texas Ceremony in the vibrant city of Houston,” said International Director of the Michelin Guides Gwendal Poullennec, in a statement.
“Houston is full of culinary innovation and world class hospitality, which goes hand in hand with our values at the Michelin Guide. Together with Houston First, as well as the support Travel Texas, we look forward to an evening of celebration a we toast to the restaurants that our Inspectors have chosen to award in Texas.”
Michelin awards its prestigious stars to restaurants showcasing exceptional culinary mastery, with one to three stars indicating the level of excellence. Beyond stars, the Michelin Guide is famous for its Bib Gourmand category, which highlights restaurants that offer high-quality cuisine at affordable prices.
The Michelin Green Star recognizes establishments that lead the way in sustainability and environmentally conscious dining. In addition to these accolades, Michelin Inspectors also acknowledge remarkable restaurants and present special awards to professionals who make significant contributions to the culinary world.
