Lower Westheimer is one of the best areas in Houston. Not only is the area one of the most walkable places in Houston, but it’s also home to some of our favorite concepts, including the likes of Agora coffee house, Poison Girl cocktail bar, Common Bond Bakery, as well as numerous thrift stores.
Now, there’s a new destination on the block. Located in the space formerly occupied by La Grange, Melrose is a stylish and sophisticated new cocktail lounge from Army Sadeghi, Brandon Duliakas and Dan Wierck. Combined, the team have almost a dozen food and beverage concepts under their belt including the elegant new Clarkwood.
Situated at 2517 Ralph St., Melrose is an equally elegant establishment outfitted in curvaceous lines, moody lighting, and soothing warm tones. The Melrose team tapped the acclaimed, California-based Davis Ink to design the interior.

“[Melrose is] a magical, sophisticated space inspired by biomorphic design, organic shapes, layered textures, hidden lighting, and standout features like a lightbox tunnel, a floating bar structure and a topography-inspired ceiling–designed to captivate and transform into a high energy environment”.
The team has reimagined La Grange’s former mezzanine with glass walls overlooking the downstairs patio space. Here, Melrose plans to add a bar-within-a-bar concept seating 12.
For its cocktail program, Melrose offers eye-catching cocktails with inventive riffs on classics like the Gin & Tonic and Old Fashioned. Craft beer, still and sparkling wine, and champagne are also available.

Also on the bill at Melrose is Michelin-Starred chef, Emmanuel Chavez, of Tatémo. At Melrose, Chavez created a globally-influenced snack menu with plates such as Kampachi Tiradito, Spicy Tuna Rice Crisp, and its Charcuterie Board.
“Melrose’s snack menu, inspired by French technique with a touch of Japanese influence has been a careful transformation of the concept of bar bites through meticulous attention to detail and thoughtfully sourced ingredients,” chef Chavez said.
Melrose is open from 4 pm to 2 am daily at 2517 Ralph St. Happy Hour is available from 4 pm to 6:30 pm with $5 beers, $10 cocktails, and wine bottles and charcuterie at half price.
