Anyone who’s ever visited the Secret Houston site or socials know that we here are big fans of both libraries and bars. So you could imagine how excited we are to find that there’s a book-bar in the Houston area. LIT bookbar is a new literary-themed bookstore where visitors can peruse stacks of paperbacks with a cocktail in hand.
What began as a book club has flourished into a literary haven for boozy bookworms. Now with a brick-and-mortar in Sugar Land just outside of Houston, LIT bookbar retains the same spirit providing a space where bookworms can gather to read, drink, and discuss their recent reads in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.
In addition to its function as a bookstore, Lit also features a full bar complete with classic as well as literary-themed cocktails. Featured cocktails include Watch It Burn with Buffalo Trace Whiskey, Aperol, lemon, simple syrup, and topped with grenadine and a flaming sugar cube.
Additionally, Lit bookbar also puts on a series of events including book signings, discussions, live music performances, as well as Silent Book Club the third Wednesday of every month
The bar also features an array of audiobooks via Libro.fm.
For invested bookworms, you can join the book bar’s bookclub, that is, a subscription to LIT’s monthly bookclub pick, 10% off the bar’s selection, as well as a free cocktail on pickup day. Bookclub is priced at $40 per month.
Lit bookbar is now open at 611 Jackson T. Suite B. in Richmond. Closed on Mondays, the bar is open from 10 am – 8 pm Tuesday through Thursday; 10 am – 12 am Fridays and Saturdays; noon – 4 pm on Sundays.
