Fashion isn’t hard to come by in Houston. Whether getting your drip on with designer brands in at the mall, going thrift shop hopping, or digging through the crates for treasures at affordable retail outlets in Houston, the city has something for everyone. This fall, the Skims billion-dollar fashion brand co-founded by A-list celebrity Kim Kardashian is seeking to open a brick-and-mortar location in Houston.
Skims is a fashion brand co-founded by reality TV star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian West, Emma Grede and Jens Grede. Launched in 2019, the brand promotes inclusive, innovative, and comfortable shapewear and loungewear with a diverse range of sizes and shades to cater to various body types and skin tones.

Skims also promotes sustainability, incorporating eco-friendly materials and practices into its manufacturing processes.
The company doesn’t presently have any brick-and-mortar locations but does have plans to open locations in Los Angeles and New York this year. As of July of 2023, the company was valued at $4 billion dollars.
According to the Houston Chronicle, New York-based Kenneth Park Architects, the design firm that oversaw the opening of Skims’ Austin location has already attained the necessary permits for a brick-and-mortar in the Houston Galleria.

The company reportedly has plans for a 7,000-square-foot space in the vicinity of Marc Jacobs and Alo Yoga on the first floor of the Galleria. According to Chron, plans aren’t yet finalized but a Skims representative confirmed that Houston was a likely candidate for a company brick-and-mortar. Stay tuned for more details.
Elsewhere in Houston, Uniqlo, renowned fashion brand known as the “Japanese Zara“, plans to open a location in Memorial City Mall as soon as this September.
