Uniqlo, often referred to as the Japanese Zara, is finally open in Houston. And we say finally because there are 1,500 Uniqlo stores in the world. By the end of this fall there will be two Uniqlo locations in Houston.
Now open, Uniqlo is housed in a 21,647-square-foot space at Memorial City Mall formerly occupied by Forever 21.
Uniqlo plans for a second Houston location in Sugar Land’s First Colony Mall to open on October 18. The store plans to celebrate their Houston-area openings with special deals, giveaways, and more festivities.

The Japanese firm carved out a niche for itself among the largest textile multinationals on the market thanks to an offer of simple clothing at low prices. It has offices in eight European countries and in large metropolises around the world such as New York, Bangkok and Seoul.
Originally, Uniqlo intended to open a store in Houston back in 2020, but due to the pandemic was forced to postpone.

“A store that began in the suburbs of Japan is now opening up shop on the second biggest piece of land in America,” the site reads. “After interviewing nearly a dozen Texans, what we found was a land with supersized heart. Nearly everyone we spoke to emphasized the importance of diversity, tradition, and giving back. These are touchstones that UNIQLO and Texas share.”
There are presently 57 Uniqlo locations in the United States, including retail outlets in New York, California, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Washington, Pennsylvania, Florida, Maryland, Illinois, and Virginia.
The storefront of Uniqlo in Houston at Memorial City Mall will be Uniqlo’s first location in Texas. Uniqlo will also open three locations in North Texas in the same month, including storefronts in Galleria Dallas on October 18, and at Stonebriar Centre in Frisco, and Parks Mall in Arlington on October 25.
