Opened last year, Velocity Sim Racing Lounge is premier, professional-grade simulation racing experience in Sawyer Yards district. The venue houses 16 world-class racing simulators engineered to replicate competitive track racing in which each rig is fully equipped with dynamic motion systems and immersive 180-degree panoramic screens.
This weekend, the racing lounge will welcome Ignition. The brand new racing-themed speakeasy will feature cocktails by Permission Whiskey & Service Co.’s Peter Nolan, elevated eats, racing simulators, and supercar-inspired design.
Located behind a non-descript door – opened via a gallery of mounted steering wheels – the 50-person room centers around a custom-liveried Pro Mazda race car suspended from the vaulted ceiling, with motorsports memorabilia lining the space.
“Some of the best moments in racing happen off the track, and that’s the inspiration behind Ignition,” said Velocity founder Viet Tran in a presss release. “We wanted to create an exclusive space where guests can immerse themselves in motorsports culture, enjoy outstanding drinks and food, and ignite their passion.”
Designed by Peter Nolan of Permission Whiskey & Service Co. the cocktail menu features such options as Midnight Monaco with Glenfiddich 16 Year Aston Martin Edition, Velocity GT made with Empress Elderflower Gin, and an espresso martini made with turbinado syrup and Reyka Vodka.
The kitchen serves shareable plates like candied bacon with maple dipping sauces, charcuterie, and seafood campechana.
Alongside the bar, the space houses eight professional-grade racing simulators. Guests can race on four beginner setups with motion technology or four advanced rigs with full-motion systems and triple-curved displays.
The lounge also runs live race watch parties across its six televisions and two digital leaderboards.
Ignitition opens at Sim Racing Lounge at 2110 Edward St. in Sawyer Yards on Friday, July 17. The venue will be open from 5 pm – 11 pm on Thursday; from 5 pm – midnight on Fridays and Saturdays; and from 5 – 10 pm on Sundays.
