Arctic blast 2024 continues to weigh on Houston. All lanes in both directions on FM-359 are being shutdown on I-10 due to icy conditions and a sequence of accidents, including an overturned 18-wheeler and hazmat spill.
While no cause has officially been revealed regarding the 18-wheeler accident, official suspect that the road’s icy conditions to be a contributor.
ABC13 recommends taking surface roads, and even then monitoring those conditions as opposed to main roads.
ICE ALERT: Y’all, this is not a drill! I-10 is getting shut down in both directions west of Houston in Brookshire. Ice is all over the freeway with an overturned 18-wheeler in one direction and another accident in the opposite direction.

Earlier this morning, ERCOT issued a Conservation Appeal for Texans between the hours of 6 and 10 am Monday morning.
“Operating reserves are expected to be low tomorrow morning due to continued freezing temperatures, record-breaking demand, and unseasonably low wind,” ERCOT operators posted on Twitter/X.
“We request Texas businesses and residents conserve electricity use, if safe to do so. At this time, if you are experiencing an outage, it is local in nature and not related to grid reliability.”
ERCOT has since stated that conditions are stable.
According to The Weather Channel, Tuesday is expected to see a minor rise in temperatures, reaching a maximum of 37 degrees and a minimum of 24 degrees.
