Summer is just around the corner. When mapping out your next beach trip in Texas, put these two coastal destinations on your radar. Houston-area beaches, Jamaica Beach and Terramar Beach, recently featured in HomeToGo‘s ‘America’s Top Destinations for Beach Breaks in 2026’ list – both in the top 10.
Founded in 2014, HomeToGo is a technology company operates one of the largest search engine and marketplace for vacation rentals. The company recently conducted a ranking of the best beach destinations in America. Through internal search data and external atmospheric data, the rankings were based on the following factors:
- Affordability
- Temperature and weather
- Visitor satisfaction
Furthermore, the publication applied calculated Hidden Gem and Local Secret scores. Here, the company awarded higher scores to those beaches with lower search volume/high satisfactions as well as those more likely to be visited by locals.
In the Top 10 were Jamaica Beach (3) and Terramar Beach (6), both of which are located in Galveston.
Ranked the third best beach destination in America 2026, Jamaica Beach is an off-the-radar coastal destination at the Western end of Galveston Island. According to the publication, the beach offers a quaint area for typical beach activities that include paddleboarding and kayaking.

“A wide stretch of Gulf shoreline, Jamaica Beach is perched on the western end of Galveston Island. Covering just under a square mile, this small coastal community moves at an easy island pace, offering quieter sands than busier parts of Galveston and space for beachcombing, sunbathing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.”
Ranked at No. 6, Terramar Beach is also located at the west end of Galveston Island. Largely inhabited by full-time residents, Terramar Beach is a quiet, charming beach area. Though the area requires a bit of a drive into the city, Terramar Beach is located in proximity to a number of beloved local destinations that include The West End Marina & Restaurants, Cooper’s Landing, Seawall Coffee, and Seahorse Grill.
According to HomeToGo, America’s Top Destination for Beach Breaks in 2026 is Saint Joe Beach in Florida.
