Ready or not, summer is almost here. Ahead of what’s expected to be a blistering summer, Houston could get its first taste of summer heat today. This Tuesday, May 7, temperatures could get up to 90 degrees in Houston despite a continued flood warning.
Following days of thunderstorms and Houston area floods, temperatures are expected to rise in Houston with a potential high of 90 degrees. Meanwhile, a river flood warning is currently in place for East Fork San Jacinto in Harris Country until 7:40 am Thursday, May 9.

Forecasters report a 25% chance of precipitation, with a 6% chance of thunderstorms. Otherwise, the city will see partly cloudy and partly sunny conditions. This will mean that a warm, humid day with temperatures expected to top out at 90 degrees around 4:30 pm this afternoon. Numerous meteorologists are reporting feels-like temperatures of 98 degrees.
Houston will see similar conditions over the next couple days. This Friday and Saturday, Houston will have a mixture of sunny and cloudy conditions with a minor chance of precipitation. Stormy weather is expected to return on Sunday, Mother’s Day, in Houston. Scattered showers will start the day with heavier, thunderstorms predicted for later that night.

Unfortunately, thunderstorms will continue well into next week according to The Weather Channel. The channel predicts that these conditions will clear up by next weekend. As far as this coming summer in Houston, The Farmer’s Almanac predicts summer to be scorching, humid, and rainy. Last year Houston recorded its hottest summer in history with 45 days of 100+ temperatures.
