Get ready for your close-up, Houston, because the lights, glamour, and timeless sophistication of Hollywood at Drake’s Hollywood now open in Houston.
Drake’s Hollywood is a project from Vandelay Hospitality Group, the Dallas-based group behind the Hudson House, as well as numerous concepts in Dallas, including Slider & Blues, Brentwood, D.L. Mack’s, and more.
Housed in the space formerly occupied by Georgia James, Drake’s Hollywood is a glam, Hollywood-themed steakhouse. Adorned with star-studded murals, ambient lighting fixtures, and red leather booths, the new Houston restaurant appears as a local straight from the likes of a Scorcese set.
Food-wise, Drake’s serves a variety of steaks, salads, and specialty pizzas. Its steak specialties include the A5 Japanese Wagyu served sliced with white truffle butter and The King’s Porterhouse priced at $175.
The restaurant also serves an assortment of shareables, warm and cold, appetizers, and other smaller dishes. Featured plates include White Truffle and Lobster Mac & Cheese, Vin Scully Fries, oysters, king crab rangoon, veal meatballs, and lobster escargot.
From behind the bar, Drake’s offers a quality selection of house martinis – such as French 76, Manhattan, and Spanish Espresso – signature drinks – like The Mexican margarita – as well as an expansive list of red, white, and sparkling wines. Their premier cocktail is The World’s Coldest Martini – a frozen vodka martini made with citrus bitters and dry vermouth.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Drake’s Hollywood has plans to roll out a private, members-only club inside the venue in 2025, though its working out the concept.
Drake’s Hollywood presently has two locations, one in West Hollywood and one in Dallas. The sophisticated new steakhouse is now open at 1100 Westheimer in the space formerly occupied by Underbelly. For a little something of the same vibe, you can visit the Vandelay Hospitality Group’s Hudson House at 1964 W Gray St.
