Far be it from us to criticize H-E-B. From its philanthropy to its homespun tortillas, the supermarket has always been good to us. If we were to have any notes, however, paying could be made a touch easier with digital tap-to-pay.
It’s not just us – seems like others also have a tendency to leave their wallets at home – according to the supermarket digital tap-to-pay has been its most requested service – and H-E-B has listened. This October, H-E-B is rolling out digital tap-to-pay at Houston locations.
“This has been one of the most requested services from our customers and partners,” said Ashwin Nathan, H-E-B’s group vice president of marketing and payments, in a release. “We are excited to make this technology available at all H-E-B locations.”
The market has already rolled out digital tap-to-pay in select H-E-B stores in San Antonio, where customers can utilize either Apple pay, Google Pay, or Samsung pay at registers, self-checkout lanes, H-E-B restaurants, and H-E-B pharmacies.
Digital tap-to-pay will not be available at H-E-B fuel pumps.
Over the next few weeks, the supermarket franchise plans to make the service available to Houston and all locations in Texas. While there is no specific time frame in place, H-E-B plans to have the service implemented in Houston stores by the end of October
“At H-E-B, we’re always exploring new technologies to enhance the shopping experience,” said Ashwin Nathan, H-E-B’s Group Vice President of Marketing and Payments. “This has been one of the most requested features from our customers and Partners, and we’re thrilled to bring this popular technology to all our locations.”
Digital tap-to-pay will also be available at H-E-B’s Mi Tienda stores.
