Saddle your broomstick, toss some floo powder in the fire place, or otherwise apparate out to Corpus Christi, where Coffee Mugg – Texas’s only Harry Potter-themed coffee shop – is conjuring up a litany of magical brews and libations.
October is here, folks. It’s the time when the magic of the holiday season dawns, when fantasy blends into reality, Harry Potter holidays begin, and the ghouls and goblins can come out and let their freak flags fly. At Coffee Mugg, it’s a time that lasts year round.
Just follow the spiders out to 1112 Morgan in Corpus Christi. Here, you’ll find the cozy little coffee den that is Coffee Mugg. Inside its pumpkin orange curtains, the shop appears like a set piece from the Gryffindor Tower common room.
Outfitted with comfy furniture, autumnal flourishes, suspended jack-o-lanterns and house banners, the Latina-owned cafe makes for a charming space to snuggle up with a hot chocolate and read, or otherwise challenge a friend to a friendly game of chess.
As for its menu, Coffee Mugg features a variety of themed libations inspired by the iconic series. Options include: Bruja Spice – a horchata-tinged pumpkin spice late; El Dobby – a latte made with butterscotch and white chocolate; the Bellatrix – a dark and white chocolate latte with Oreo cookie crumbs; and Basic Witch AKA butter beer.
While the spread isn’t quite what you’d find in the Great Hall, the coffee den offers a sweet mix of bites including pumpkin-spiced coffee cake, various batches of cookies – ranging from toffee and chocolate chip to photo-ready decorated sugar cookies – as well as their Salty Snitch, an addicting conglomeration of hazelnut, sea salt, and caramel.
The Coffee Mugg is located at 1112 Morgan in Corpus Christi and is open from 7 am to 3 pm Monday through Thursday, and from 8 am to 5 pm Friday through Sunday.
