Summer is still going strong in Texas. While you might have had the time to cross all of your summer bucket list items in Houston, you still have time to venture outside the city limits and explore all the sun-kissed fun the state of Texas has to offer. Up the road in Austin, for example, WaveXWater Sports offers patrons the chance to “go kart” on the city’s lakes with their unique wave runners.
Among the many attractions that our weird neighbor has to offer, Austin is also home to a unique form of transportation that has not yet made its way down to H-town. That vehicle is called the Evojet – a one-person-powered watercraft with cockpit-style seating that gives riders the impression of driving a go kart on water.
The Evojet is capable of reaching speeds up to 50 mph. No experience necessary to rent one of the unique water crafts. Rental prices start at $265 for two hours. Available in two-hour increments, the longer you ride, the greater discount you have. First fuel tank is included in rental.
The company recommend against individuals over 6’5″ and/or over 250 lbs renting Evojets due to the cockpit-style seating.
WaveXWater Sports also offers Yamaha EX Waverunner rentals, accommodating up to 2 people, as well as luxury Trifecta Pontoons. The latter consists of a Bimini shade top, bluetooth speakers, underseat storage, cooler, and wireless phone charger; it can seat up to 12 people.
Waverunner rentals start at $220 for two hours, the pontoons at $305 for two hours – minimum 4-hour rental on weekends. Tubes are also available for renting. Prices vary by time and location.
Patrons can choose to rent any one of these water crafts, or even combinations between the three of them, at lakes LBJ, Inks, Buchanan, Travis, and Austin in Austin. To proceed with the rental, visitors are encouraged to select a lake, select a water craft, then the date & time, and finally meet their personnel at the specified boat ramp.
