The town of Grapevine outside Dallas is known as the Christmas capitol of Texas. Before the holiday season sets the town all merry and bright, Grapevine will wheel in a different type of storied attraction. This October, Grapevine is rolling in a real-life Thomas the Tank Engine called Day out with Thomas inspired by the British TV show, “Thomas & Friends”.
“Hop onboard the Grapevine Vintage Railroad for Day Out With ThomasTM, presented by Mattel,” organizers write. “If your little ones love Thomas the Tank EngineTM, bring the entire family to enjoy this special opportunity to take a ride with the classic storybook engine and experience “trains, games & miles of smiles!”
The immersive, family-friendly experience inspired by the adventures and characters of the beloved kids TV program will be available at multiple times on select dates beginning October 13, ending on October 22: October 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22.
“Join Thomas the Tank Engine for a day full of colorful adventures! All aboard an interactive train ride with Thomas to earn your Color Badge, say Hello to Sir Topham Hatt and get creative exploring the Color Corner,” organizers write on the website.
“For even more fun, mix it up in the Play Pod with lawn games, snap eye-catching photo ops, enjoy live entertainment, check out the exclusive pop-up gift shop and more!”
Tickets are now available, starting at $20 (for groups over 20), or $24 for single tickets. The locomotive journey begins at the Museum of the American Railroad & Grapevine Vintage Railroad at 705 South Main Street.
Come the holiday season, Grapevine also hosts a special Grapevine Wine Train aka Polar Express. Here, passengers can regale in Yuletide activities including Christmas music, fine Texas wine, seasonal hors d’oeuvres – all while being whisked across scenic Texas landscape.
Of course, kids are also encouraged to get in on the fun by dressing up in their snuggliest PJs and eating all the Christmas cookies their hearts can handle while reveling in the Christmas spirit.
