If you’ve already started a summer 2022 bucket list, we have another addition for you. The Galveston Island State Park is reopening its beachside front just in time for summer fun.
After extensive anticipation, the public will finally get the chance to experience the recently renovated Galveston Island State Park opening next Monday, June 27. Yesterday, the Texas Parks and Wildlife broke the news of the state park’s developments on social media.
“Exciting news! @galvestonislandstatepark is reopening the beachside of the park JUNE 27.”
As for what to expect, the park has plans for 125 campsites – including water, electric, tent platform, and dry camping sites, kayak launch locations, boardwalks with rinse-off showers, as well as historical houses available for rent on the bayside.
Furthermore, the park is adding day use beach and bayside pavilions, a new vendor area, observation towers, as well as over five miles of additional hiking.
“A beautiful beach, wonderful fishing opportunities, amazing nature viewing and a birding destination all within our nearly 2000-acre park that stretches beach to bay across Galveston Island.”
