Continuous excessive rainfall has resulted in a Flood Watch in effect in the Greater Houston area until 12 pm Wednesday, January 24, with the chance of being extended.
Ongoing widespread showers and thunderstorms throughout the day could result in an additional 2-4 inches of rain is expected in the Houston area.
Today: Showers/storms w/ heavy rainfall at times, especially this morning/early afternoon.
Tonight: Showers. Locally heavy rain possible. Areas of fog develop overnight.

Greater Houston Area counties expected to receive the most rainfall include: Navasota, Brenham, Anderson, Washington, Grimes, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker, and Trinity. These areas are under a Flash Flood warning until 9 am.
“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, particularly urban areas,” the National Weather Service states on its website.

Due to excessive rainfall, Houston area schools have announced delayed starts this Wednesday. Two-hour delays have been scheduled for: Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD, Livingston ISD, and Shepherd ISD.
Forecasts show that precipitation is expected to stop early Thursday morning.
