Pop into Segundo Lab for some tasty morning coffee chemistry.
Husband-and-wife caffeine team, Manuel and Martha Gil, have recently opened Segundo Lab inside Ironworks near downtown, bringing rich, creative java flavors to the Second Ward. [trackLink link_url="https://www.instagram.com/thatssohouston/"]Featured image: @thatssohouston[/trackLink]
Ironworks, a 60,000-square-foot industrial building and development in East End has in the past few years transformed into a cultural hub. Using over 20 re-purposed shipping containers, Ironworks – formerly Cameron Iron Works founded in 1920 – has cultivated the space into a creative work and retail environment.
Inside its spacious, bohemian industrial atmosphere you can find Segundo Coffee Lab. In addition to your go-to coffee shop orders such as espressos, cappuccinos, iced coffees, and teas, Segundo serves a variety of eccentric, at times Delta 8 and/or CBD-infused, libations. Our favorites include La Mexicana – a honey vanilla latte with a cinnamon twist, the Pingüino with white and dark mocha syrup and oat milk, and their signature 713 Taro con Leche. For a different kind of buzz, Segundo Coffee Lab serves beer and wine. On Tuesdays beers are discounted from 5 – 9 pm.
Foodwise, Segundo carries pastries and kolaches courtesy of Koffeteria, as well as home-spun breakfast tacos from local taqueria, Doña Licha.
Segundo Coffee Lab is located inside Ironworks at 711 Milby Street. They’re open from 6 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday, and 8 am – 5 pm on Sundays. Adjacent from the building is a lot where parking is free.
