A new waterpark is coming to the Houston area. Construction is presently underway on Boardwalk Bay Water Park, a new waterpark slated for the Kemah Boardwalk.
Boardwalk Bay is a project by Landry’s Inc. The company of Houston billionaire and Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta, which also owns the Kemah Boardwalk, will place the waterpark across from the Boardwalk Inn.
Built on the site of the former Flying Dutchman and Joe’s Crab Shack restaurants, the waterpark is described as family-friendly addition to the boardwalk. Featuring a pirate and shipwreck theme, the waterpark will feature 8 rides in a mixed batch of water slides and aquatic attractions.

Other elements planned for the park include a net bridge, tipping bucket, water jets, and a kids’ play cove. The latter will feature three small slides, a splash pool, waterfall jet, umbrella jet, and water mill.
“We’re excited to bring a brand-new addition to the Boardwalk that will be fun for the whole family,” said Terry Turney, Kemah Boardwalk Chief Operating Officer, in a news release. “While undergoing this transformation, all restaurants and amusements will remain open for guests to continue to enjoy.”

The waterpark is presently under construction. The company has stated that Kemah Boardwalk’s resident restaurants and attractions will remain open. According to reports, the company plans to wrap up construction this year. If all goes as planned, the Boardwalk Bay Water Park will open in the first quarter of 2027.
Notably, the Kemah Boardwalk debuted the new Drop Zone. The 140-foot tower is a reimagined attraction of the park’s ride with the same name featuring enhanced technology and infrastructure. Officials plan to add a new projected lighting system to the ride later this year.
In 2027, Houstonians can also look forward to the opening of HTX Surf Club.
