From the team behind The Rustic and Bowl & Barrel, FreeRange Concepts are set to debut their newest concept: Birdie’s Icehouse. In partnership with East River 9, Birdie’s Icehouse restaurant and bar concept lined up along Houston’s central golf course overlooking Buffalo Bayou.
Described as an icehouse-first bar and restaurant concept, Birdie’s Icehouse will serve up handcrafted drinks alongside a menu of American fare. In an accessible, unpretentious setting, Birdie’s is designed for groups large and small of players and casuals alike.
In true icehouse fashion, the 20,000-square-foot venue is outfitted with numerous TVs as well as a oversized screen for prime sports viewing. Birdie’s is also equipped with a sprawling patio space, ideal for an alfresco beer with a sunset backdrop.
“Birdie’s Icehouse was created to be a true icehouse in both feel and function,” said Kyle Noonan, co-owner and CEO of FreeRange Concepts. “The focus is cold drinks, big screens and plenty of room to settle in—especially at sunset along the bayou. You can host a corporate event, stop by for happy hour, or catch a game. The space supports all three equally well.”

Birdie’s Icehouse is located along East River 9, a central lit Houston golf course that features a 9-hole, par 3 course in addition to driving range, pickleball courts, lawn games, and ping pong tables.
“East River 9 is much more than a golf course; it is a place for the community to call its own.” said Clayton Freels, founder and developer of East River 9. “Together with Birdies Icehouse, we are elevating the atmosphere, service, and F&B quality to deliver a well-rounded experience for all. FreeRange Concepts does it right.”
Birdie’s Icehouse opens at East River 9 at 65 Hirsch Rd on Wednesday, March 18. Once open, the icehouse will be open from 11 am – 10 pm Monday through Thursday, 10 am – 11 pm on Fridays; 9 am – 11 pm on Saturdays; and from 9 am – 10 pm on Sundays.
Monday through Friday the icehouse will feature an extended Happy Hour until 7 pm, with all-day Happy Hour on Sundays. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, the venue will serve breakfast through 2 pm.
