Get ready for good eats, Houston, because there will be not one but two spectacular Asian food night markets happening this summer with the premier of the inaugural Otaku Food Fest on July 31 and August 1. [Featured image: @TanukiGo Facebook]
Organized by TanukiGo, a longstanding Japanese street food vendor and food festival feature, the free-entry Otaku Food Fest will take place at the Vietnamese Community Center from noon to 10 pm on July 31 and August 1.
In addition to yummy street food, the Otaku Food Fest will feature a cosplay contest, parade, and Itasha car show. Presently, the organizer is recruiting food vendors of all kinds not limited to Asian-oriented cuisine.
While this year’s festival is taking place at the Vietnamese Community Center, it plans to scale up in future years with bigger venues.
The festival’s predecessor, the highly coveted Hong Kong City Mall night market, is a local hidden gem that brings in hordes of foodies. That said, expect big crowds and no shortage of lines.
