Everything is bigger in Texas? Maybe not. Think small this season in Space City at Toy Gun Pew Pew Saloon: the “world’s smallest shot bar” now open in Thursday through Sunday in Houston.
Located at 4219 Washington behind Ninja Ramen, Toy Gun Pew Pew Saloon is a project from Christopher Huang of Narwhal Jousting Club and the Ninja Ramen Japanese whiskey and ramen bar. According to reports from Houston Food Finder, Huang came up with the little idea before the pandemic.
Housed in a miniature yellow barn/shed, Toy Gun clocks in at to of 42 feet long. Inside, the mini bar seats up to 4 people. Though if the party is standing, the bar could fit around 6-7 people depending.
If you’re wondering how you could fit that many menus in such a small space, Toy Gun doesn’t save space with QR codes. Instead, the menus are consistent size-wise with the world’s smallest shot bar, printed in tiny mouse typography on menus roughly the size of Pokemon cards.
As for its libations, Toy Gun Pew Pew Saloon features a small selection – pun intended – of spirits ranging from whiskey to the controversial Chicagoan Malört. The tiny bar also serves a variety of fan-favorite shots , priced at $7 each, including Vegas Bombs, Lemon Drops, Green Tea shots, and Starfuckers.
As for chasers, patrons can drop another buck on premium chasers like Pedialyte and Ramen Broth. Huang reportedly has plans to add cocktails to the list once the bar catches its stride.
Toy Gun Pew Pew Saloon is now open at 4219 Washington from 7 pm to 2 am Thursday to Sunday.
