Famed coffee table book and food guide, Eat This Not That, recently published their list ranking the top 10 fast food burgers in the country and Texas, we have good news and bad news. The good news is that beloved Texas burger franchise, Whataburger, is getting the recognition it deserves; the bad news, is that it was ranked behind In-N-Out Burger.
Judging based on the meat quality and flavor, preparation technique, bun sturdiness, and topping selection, Eat This Not That has narrowed down the best fast food burgers in the US. Coming in at number 8 is hometown favorite, Whataburger.
“Everything’s bigger in Texas, and the state’s favorite burger chain certainly follows suit. Whataburger’s burgers are heavy and as big as your face, their perfectly cooked beef patties measure 5 inches in diameter, with each weighing about 2.75 ounces, which means you’re eating a third of a pound of beef with this double,” the publication wrote on its website.
“It comes standard with tomato, lettuce, pickles, diced onions, and mustard, but can be customized with other things like cheese, bacon, grilled jalapeños, green chiles, and avocado. And no matter what you decide to put on it, you can’t go wrong—the toasted bun and the ratio of ingredients is unbeatable.”
It seems however, that Whataburger has taken another L to In-N-Out in the centuries-old debate. Controversially, In-N-Out came in just ahead of Whataburger; specifically, the Animal-Style Double Double which they describe as “the perfect creation for an average but hungry customer”.
For what it’s worth, Whataburger won the popular vote back in 2019 as conducted by USA Today.
Number one on the Eat This Not That list was McDonald’s Double Quarter-Pounder with Cheese. Thoughts?
