A recent article published by PlushCare ranked the most unhealthy menu items at American fast food chains. One list was the ranking of the unhealthiest cheeseburgers in the United States, coming in at number two was the formerly-based-in-Texas Whataburger fast food franchise.
We think it’s safe to say that when stopping by Whataburger late night it’s not on a quest for clean living. That said, it’s good know the extent of our cheat day.
The article was published by telemedicine platform, PlushCare. Its report ranked the unhealthiest cheeseburgers, chicken burgers, chicken nuggets, french fries, and vanilla shakes at fast-food chains in America.
On its ranking of the least healthy cheeseburgers, the Jalapeño & Cheese Whataburger came in as the second unhealthiest burger.
Scoring a 42 on the unhealthiness score (out of 50), the burger contains – according to the study – 12 grams of saturated fat, 2 grams of sugar, and 20 milligrams of sodium. The burger actually tied for the second place position with the Smash Burger Classic Burger, which contains more fat but less sodium.
Whataburger also placed 9th on the most unhealthy chicken burgers, with the Whatachick’n Sandwich with Mayonnaise, tied for 18th with the most unhealthy French fries, and 10th place on most unhealthy vanilla shakes with a medium vanilla shake.
On the flip side, the Whataburger with cheese ranked as the top healthiest cheeseburger with the second-best scores for fat and calorie count beating out the likes of In N Out Burger, Checker’s, and Culvers.
In the unhealthy study, Five Guys ranked high on multiple unhealthy lists, including its place as the unhealthiest cheeseburger (the Five Guys cheeseburger), unhealthiest fries (regular Five Guys-style fries), and the third unhealthiest vanilla shake (the Base Vanilla Shake).
