Texas follows the rules of three. Here in the Lonestar State, the holy trinity consists of H-E-B, Buccee’s, and Whataburger. As for the latter, we all have our locals. For those mega fans, however, there is one Whataburger location that (literally) tops all 800 or so others.
Known as the “sparkling city by the sea”, Corpus Christi is a beautiful coastal town in Texas. Former home of Selena, the beach town is home to the TX State Aquarium, Texas Surf Museum, as well as some of the best beaches in the state.
The city is also where Harmon Dobson founded Whataburger as a humble hamburger stand in 1950. As the birthplace of the state’s favorite burger franchise, the city is also home to Whataburger by the Bay, the only two-story Whataburger in the country.

Housed in its iconic orange-and-white-striped A-frame structure, Whataburger on the Bay is a 6,000-square-foot beachside mecca complete with undulating awnings, a sprawling observation deck overlooking the marina, and the only Whataburger elevator in the country.
For true die-hard Whataburger fans, the venue also features a brass statue of its founder, Harmon Dobson for fast food photo-ops.
Here customers can enjoy all their Whataburger favorites, not excluding Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits, Whataburger Patty Melt, classic Whataburger, and more.

According to its website, Whataburger on the Bay is open 24 hours for dine-in and drive-thru. Elsewhere in Corpus Christi, there is Whataburger Field – a minor-league ballpark home to the Astros-affiliated Corpus Christi Hooks. Also, fans can see Whataburger’s beginnings at a small hamburger stand at the replica of its very first restaurant in front of its location at 4126 S Staples St.
Whataburger on the Bay is located at 121 N Shoreline Blvd in Corpus Christi and is open 24 hours.
