It was early 2023 that Universal first announced that it would be building a grand new Universal Resort in Frisco, Texas. In the meantime, officials have gradually released details of the coming theme park, including its name: “Universal Kids Resort“and that it would include an adjacent themed hotel. This past week, park officials released further images and details of the park regarding its key attractions including Shrek’s Swamp, Spongebob Squarepants’ Bikini Bottom, and more.
As announced previously, the Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas will specifically be geared toward families and young children. The 97-acre park is to open along with a planned themed hotel in June 2026 at the space across the Dallas North Tollway intersecting with the Panther Creek and Fields Parkways.

The latest update of the Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas includes details regarding the park’s seven lands, set to feature the following:
- Shrek’s Swamp
- Puss in Boots Del Mar
- Jurassic World Adventure Camp
- Bikini Bottom
- Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club
- Isle of Curiosity
- Trollsfest
“Universal Kids Resort embodies the spirit of igniting thrill that drives everything we create – designed to bring our youngest guests and families together through play, creativity, and beloved characters and stories,” said President of Universal Creative, Molly Murphy. “It’s a destination made for kids and, as a regional theme park, brings Universal’s signature storytelling to families close to home”.

The themed areas will feature staple, elaborate recreations of animated film’s settings complete with its most famous characters. Here, kids will also be able to engage in various games, activities, themed rides and water attractions inspired by their favorite movies.
“We envisioned this park through the unbridled creativity of kids where infinite imagination, curiosity and free-spirited play were core to our design philosophies,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Universal Creative, Brian Robinson in a press release.
“It produced a park that’s pure joy and an absolute celebration of what it is to be a kid”.
