Update: Six Flags Over Texas has postponed the opening of its new record-breaking ride due to extended commissioning and testing processes. The park has not yet released a new official opening date.
Six Flags Over Texas is preparing to unleash a massive, record-breaking roller coaster this June in North Texas.
First announced in September 2025, Tormenta Rampaging Run will be the world’s very first “giga dive coaster”—an elite classification reserved for dive coasters exceeding 300 feet.
Inspired by the Spanish running of the bulls, the giga coaster will lift passengers a staggering 309 feet into the air before plunging them down a beyond-vertical, 95-degree drop at speeds of nearly 90 mph.
Tormenta Rampaging Run, opening Friday, June 2026, will break six world records, including:
- Tallest Dive Coaster: Towering at 307 feet, it offers a fleeting, panoramic view of the DFW skyline before initiating a heart-pounding plunge.
- Fastest Dive Coaster: Hitting a top speed of 87 mph, it easily leaves every other dive coaster in the dust.
- Longest Dive Coaster: Stretching a massive 4,199 feet, the sprawling track delivers a relentless layout of twists, turns, and drops.
- Tallest Vertical Loop: At a colossal 179 feet, this record-breaking loop towers above any other on the planet.
- Highest Beyond-Vertical Drop: Riders face a terrifying, gravity-defying 285-foot plummet pitched at a steep 95-degree angle.
- Highest Immelmann Inversion: Delivering ultimate bragging rights, it flips passengers completely upside down at an astonishing 218 feet in the air.
The record-breaking coaster will anchor the Rancho de la Tormenta, an immersive new Spanish village located right inside the park. Filled with vibrant artwork and upbeat Spanish music, this charming, small-town area provides the ultimate lively backdrop for your day of thrills—complete with a brand-new dining experience to fuel up at Cocina Abuela.
