Spring is on the horizon, Houston. For an all-too-brief time of year, Houstonians can delight in the parks, natural areas, and blooming gardens across the city. If you really want to go big this spring, load up your baskets and take a trip out to Pilot Point, home to the famous Texas Tulips. Slated to reopen this February, Texas Tulips offers the Lonestar State is own little slice of Holland.
About Texas Tulips
Planted in Pilot Point, roughly 45 minutes north of Dallas, and about 4.5 hours north of Houston, Texas Tulips is the ultimate spring destination in the Lonestar State. The sprawling pick-your-own tulip field is the largest of its kind in Texas.
Across 12 acres of rolling hills, the flower field is home to over one million blooming tulips. Among its crop are around 100 varieties of tulips in all sorts of colors, shapes, and sizes – from Ballerinas to Barbados, Abbas, and more.
Texas Tulips was founded by Pieter and Petra Koeman – both originally from the Netherlands.
How does it work?
Here’s how it works. As laid out on its website, entry is priced at $7 per person. Once there, simply procure a basket available on the field (if you don’t already have one) and pick out all the tulips you want. Once content with your picks, bring the tulips ($3 per stem) to staff who will provide wrapping and apply a special preserving gel to keep the tulips fresh. Then, do with those tulips what you will!
After you’ve brought your tulips to their new home, Texas Tulips advises you to rinse off the gel and put the flowers in water.
Children 12 months and under are permitted free entrance.

When is Texas Tulips open for 2026 season?
As stated on its website and socials, Texas Tulips plans to reopen for the spring season in mid/late February through late March/early April – depending on the weather.
