From taquerias to food trucks, two-story restaurants and more, there’s no shortage of incredible taco joints in Houston. If you’re a true taco fanatic, mark your calendars for Texas Monthly’s inaugural Taco Fest this June, set to bring live music, a market place, and the highest-rated taco joint in Texas to Discovery Green.
If you live in Texas, you know Texas Monthly. On top of its in-depth journalism, national awards, and compelling storytelling, the publication is one of the go-to tastemakers for local and regional cuisine. Some of the publication’s most anticipated articles include the Top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas, Best New Restaurants, and 50 Best Tacos in Texas – the latter, released by twice James Beard Award-winner, José R Ralat.

This June, the publication will hosts its inaugural Taco Fests taking place in Grand Prairie and Houston. The festival is in part a celebration of the “New Tejano” movement emerging across Texas – as covered in Ralat’s 50 Best Tacos in Texas article – which tracks innovative ways chefs have been approaching traditional Tejano cuisine.
The Taco Fest in Houston takes place on June 7 at Discovery Green. The event will bring 15 of the state’s best taquerias to Houston including San Antonio and Rio Grande Valley-based establishment as well as the highest rank tacos in Texas – per Texas Monthly – Ana Liz Taqueria of Mission, Texas.
In addition to these terrific taquerias, the festival will also feature live entertainment, including music and poetry, as well as a marketplace, and more.

Texas Monthly’s Taco Fest in Houston takes place from 5 pm – 8:30 pm on June 7 at Discovery Green located at 1500 McKinney Street.
