While the menu at Sugar Factory isn’t strictly limited to sweets, the establishment is the closest thing to a dessert-only restaurant that Houston has to offer. Their Instagram account pops with kaleidoscopic saccharine concoctions, be it in the form of their insane milkshakes, decadent shareable sundaes, or vibrant tropical cocktails.
Their insane milkshakes (averaging at about $23 a piece), are coated with various candies, ranging from Snickers, Hersheys, Kit Kats, and chocolate pretzels, and are all topped off with numerous treats. Their Caramel Sugar Daddy Cheesecake, for instance, features a swirl of vanilla ice cream, cheesecake pieces, and caramel, topped with a rainbow lollipop, house-made candy, and a slice of NY-style cheesecake. Plus it’s coated with chocolate and crushed graham crackers.
For a little more adventure, Sugar Factory offers a boozy Campfire Spiked S’mores Milkshake ($33 or $23 without alcohol)– made with a blend of Virginia Black Whiskey, espresso, toasted marshmallow, and chocolate and coffee ice cream. Served in a dark-chocolate coated mug sprinkled with Hershey bar and graham cracker pieces, the milkshake is crowned with a seven-layer s’more.
The restaurant also offers traditional milkshakes for around $14.50 a piece, with options that include, The Barbie – a mix of vanilla ice cream and strawberry gelato with marshmallow fluff, as well as the Fluffier Nutter – chocolate ice cream, marshmallow fluff, peanut butter, topped with whipped cream and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup bits.
Their sundaes are intended to be shared, in which couples can spoon into a banana split, red velvet, or strawberry cheesecake sundae. The most brow-raising option on the entire menu has to be the restaurants’s World Famous Sugar Factory King Kong Sundae – a massive behemoth of ice cream (24 scoops), caramelized banana, cupcake, donut, gummy bears, chocolate chip cookie, marshmallows, waffle cones, and sparklers. Serving up to 12, the sundae is priced at $99.
Sugar Factory offers brunch, lunch, and dinner options; its menu offering typical diner/bistro appetizers, soups, & salads, sandwiches, burgers, pastas, entrees.
Lastly, Sugar Factory offers a spectrum of colorful cocktails. Mai Tais, mojitos, piña coladas, margaritas, and more are all served in goblet-sized glasses, all topped off with various candies. Cosmos, martinis, and other sweet libations are also available.
Sugar Factory is set to open soon in the Galleria, though no official opening date has been announced.
