They don’t call it Space City for nothing. This Thursday, May 25, what might be the Spaciest of Space City establishments is set to lift off in Montrose. Introducing Roswell’s Saloon – a far-out new space-themed bar in Houston glowing with dazzling neon lights, stellar cocktails, and galactic vibes.
Roswell’s Saloon is the project of prolific business owner, Shawn Bermudez. Houstonians will surely recognize some of Bermudez’s spots around town, including Burger Joint, Pavement, Leopard Lounge, and Pistolero’s to name a few.
Bermudez was also the owner of Present Company, a beloved bar on Westheimer renowned for its over-the-top Christmas decorations and general vibrant atmosphere. Back in November, Bermudez sold the bar.
“If I’m able to get a fair price for Present Company, it frees up so much of my time to do these other projects,” Bermudez said, as reported by CultureMap. “That’s how much work Present Company took. That’s why it was the right time.”
This Thursday, Bermudez is launching his latest new project, Roswell’s Saloon, an over-the-top space-themed bar and “cosmic cocktail lounge” in Houston located at 1417 Westheimer Rd.
The trippy new hangout features a (black) hole lot of blacklight, neon lights – augmented by UV-reactive floors, walls, and bar tops – as well as suspended planets, astronauts, and other cosmic phenomena.
“Space is endless. The possibilities of what I could do were endless,” said Bermudez. “It allowed me creatively to venture out there. It gave me a theme for the entire place that isn’t just decor. It stretches to the cocktails, [including] flavor and presentation.”
From behind the bar, patrons can expect a (nearly) infinite array of astronomical-themed cocktails – that which pop in the black light – as well as shots in the form of space capsules, monthly Zodiac-themed drinks, and more.
Roswell’s Saloon opens this Thursday, May 25. Once open, the bar will be open seven days a week between 7 pm and 2 am.
