We’ve always said that the Houston Zoo was a magical place, but this June, it’s going to be straight up dreamy. Kicking off this June, the Houston Zoo is rolling out a new Overnight program where families and groups can spend the night inside the Galapagos Island exhibit’s fantastic sea lion cave.
Debuted in January 2023, the Galapagos Island exhibit is a first-of-its-kind, $70 million experience that captures the rich natural landscape of the Galapagos Islands. Fit with an underwater tunnel, 190,000-gallon aquarium, molten lava tubes, and a sea lion cave – the exhibit is an oceanic gallery that provides a completely magical experience.
This summer, Houstonians can connect with the exhibition on a deep (sleep) level. Kicking off this June, the Houston Zoo will offer Overnight programs where visitors can engage with the zoo’s exhibitions after-hours – sleeping bags in tow.
“We are thrilled to offer a brand-new overnight program this summer! Pack your sleeping bag and stay the night in our sea lion cave inside of Galapagos Islands,” the Houston Zoo writes on its website.
“This exclusive offering will feature a smaller group (maximum of 20 people) going on a night tour of the Zoo to see animals like our giraffes, lions, tiger, elephants, and reptiles”.
The experience will also allow for sleepover guests to tour its special exhibits including South America’s Pantanal, Galapagos Islands, and more the morning after.
Tickets for the special Houston Zoo Overnight experience are now on sale through the event’s website priced at $95 per person. The event takes place on the following dates:
- June 14th

The experience is open to ticket holders of guests aged 6 and older. For children aged between 6 and 17, a chaperone is required. Dinner, evening snack, small breakfast, scheduled activities, and next-day admission are all included in the ticket purchase.
